DAY 12: TRAVELING TO MURCHISON NATIONAL PARK

Today, we left the Lacor Guest House and began the three-and-a-half-hour bus ride to Murchison Falls. It was sad to say goodbye to everyone we met, and many people gathered at the Lacor Guesthouse to see us off.

Although most of the journey was uneventful, near the end, we began to spot wild animals, including elephants, baboons, and antelopes. However, we did not see a giraffe, an animal all of us were hoping to see. We also saw buffaloes and even a family of warthogs trailing perfectly in a line.

When we got to the Sambiya River Lodge, we ate a late lunch at the restaurant and checked into our rooms. We managed to see many of the animals we saw on the bus ride right from the window of our lodge.

The highlight was a parliament of baboons enjoying coconuts in our backyard.

Finally, we ended the night by watching the sunset from the top of Murchison Falls. Once we reached the falls, we were greeted with the Victorian Nile cascading over giant rocks. The water was very powerful and  many of us got sprayed by the river when it plunged into the into the next body of water.

After many photos, we made it back to the bus, so we could go back to the hotel for the evening. That was not the end of the fun.

Once we got back to the hotel we went on a nature walk and sat by the fire pit until we had dinner. We returned to our room to get some rest, because tomorrow we have to wake up early for chimpanzee trekking.
