WORLD HEALTH DAY
554
This is the number of beds at Lacor Hospital and its three peripheral health centers. These beds tell the stories of patients who occupied them and the hospital staff who treated them.
Today is World Health Day. Today we celebrate the gift of health and the ability of notable institutions and their dedicated staff to provide healthcare to those in need.
At Social Promise, we honor Lacor Hospital. When you donate to Social Promise, you celebrate Lacor Hospital as well.
Why?
Because you know it is an outstanding Hospital providing care to people who would otherwise go without.
Because you know the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff work tirelessly to carry out the Hospital's mission of providing exceptional treatment to the greatest number of patients at the lowest possible cost.
Because you care. You believe all people should have access to healthcare, and you stand by that belief by helping people in Northern Uganda.
Here are some of the stories these 554 beds hold. Their stories are your stories. Thank you for your good work.
In obstetrics, there is a bed that tells the story of Sharon. Sharon arrived at Lacor in the middle of the night on a boda-boda. Sharon had pain and bleeding and was afraid she would lose her baby. With the help of Susan, her midwife, she delivered a healthy child. Sharon was able to nurse her healthy newborn in that bed.
Charles lay in a bed in surgery. He fell from a mango tree and needed an operation on his legs. Margaret from the physiotherapy clinic visited him in his bed each day while preparing an intense rehabilitation program.
Patricia occupied a bed in the pediatric ward. She was hospitalized due to unbearable pain, a side effect of sickle cell anemia. Dr. Abala administered drugs to alleviate her pain. Fiona, the head nurse, cared for her with a big, infectious smile. Even Patra, a staff member who diligently cleaned the floor in her room, was part of Patricia's story.
Behind every bed, there are many costs: doctors, nurses, and the hospital staff. Everyone is essential in creating success stories. We can't forget the team in charge of cleaning and the workers doing hundreds of pounds of laundry each day. There is the cost of medicine and treatment to make these stories a success.
